- An artistic approach to functional lighting design. A shining light direct from one of the world´s industrial design capitals, Berlin, comes in the form Machine Lighting, a designer series of handcrafted lighting objects. An artist first and foremost, the brain behind Machine Lighting, designer Frank Buchwald, strives to create timeless objects, and revels the artistic freedom of building lights beyond modernity or marketplace restrictions. Comprised of raw brass and burnished steel, Frank´s lamps invoke images of an industrial post-apocalyptic age where minimalism, design and functionality unite to produce objects that are both aesthetically pleasing and practical.
- Frank Buchwalds latest collection of lamps look like forgotten dreams of a perfect stylistic balance, they have an incomparable atmosphere and most of all look like the objects that could´t be materialized in this reality. Good to see the germans are still, as they have been for over a century, obsessed and appalled and thoroughly enthralled by all things industrialism.
